A well-beaten second to Flite Craft in both preliminary legs, Slipmeamiki blew by the 1-5 favourite in the lane and captured the $20,400 championship of the Tom Kirwan Memorial for three-year-old colt and gelding pacers on Saturday (April 29) at Hollywood Casino at The Meadows.
In those two earlier legs, Slipmeamiki finished a combined nine lengths behind Flite Craft. On Saturday, however, Slipmeamiki stretched out Flite Craft to the quarter before yielding to the pocket. In the lane, the Always B Miki-Dancin Lucille gelding responded to Hunter Myers’ urging and downed Flite Craft by a half-length in a career-best 1:51.1 over a “good” surface. Be The Captain earned show.
Edward Miller trains Slipmeamiki and owns with Rebecca Sugg and Ashley Dunn.
Dave Palone piloted three winners on the 12-race card.
Live harness racing at The Meadows resumes Wednesday, with first post at 12:45 p.m.
