Musical Rhythm toted a two-race winning streak into Monday’s $34,000 Preferred Trot at Woodbine Mohawk Park, and the Ben Baillargeon pupil had no problem nabbing the hat-trick in front-stepping fashion.

Mario Baillargeon got away second with Musical Rhythm while B Yoyo muscled to the lead and took the field past the first panel in :27.3. Baillargeon moved Musical Rhythm to the top, however, in the backstretch and once he cleared he went on to post middle splits of :58.3 and 1:28.1. The soft fractions allowed Musical Rhythm to fire a huge final quarter in :26.4 en route to the 1:55 score. B Yoyo was next best, with third prize going to Cue Hall.

Sent off as the 4-5 favourite, the seven-year-old son of Cantab Hall-Musical Victory won for the fourth time this season for partners Ben Baillargeon, Claude Hamel and Santo & Nunzio Vena. The 33-time winner pushed his lifetime earnings to $786,988/
