Stormont O My was a decisive seven and a half-length winner for trainer-driver Mario Rivest, establishing a new track record for older trotting mares in Wednesday’s featured $11,000 Not Listed Preferred Trot at Sudbury Downs.

Fan favourite Stormont O My sat in third through opening stations of :27.4 and :57.3, put up by Rewrite The Rules (Paul MacLean), before advancing to the lead at the 1:28.1 third quarter mark. Once in control, the six-year-old daughter of Stormont Bronze-Tanya Seelster was unstoppable, opening up eight lengths on the field of five in the stretch to score in 1:59.1. The time of the mile lowered Phoenix Hornline’s track record for aged trotting mares by two-fifths of a second.

Rewrite The Rules stayed for second and Bjs Fancy (Allan Hohner) came in third.

Stormont O My, a winner of two races in 11 starts this year and $23,595, is owned by John MacMillan of Spencerville, ON. Lifetime, the bay has posed for 14 win photos and has banked over $163,000.
