The first horses are hitting the track at the “vacationland oval” in Worcester County, Maryland as preparations are in earnest for the 74th race meeting at Ocean Downs.
“Trainers Barry Kingston and Billy Long were the first ones up in the inaugural training session held at the track yesterday,” said Peter Szymanski, Director of Racing at Ocean Downs. ”We will be holding training every Wednesday throughout the meet as local trainers ready their stable for the racing scene.”
Ocean Downs starts its meet on Sunday, May 28 and continuing through Wednesday, Sept. 6. The 48-day meet has a nightly post time of 7:05 p.m., highlighted by the new and improved Maryland Sires Stakes and Maryland Race Fund Stakes programs.
Racing applications are available at the track’s website at oceandowns.com or by emailing the request to [email protected].
