Too Salty made a three-wide move at the three-quarter pole for driver Bruce Ranger, and that proved to be the winning move for the gelding
, who went on to post an impressive victory in Monday’s $42,500 final of the Trots N Slots Series at Pompano Park.
The five-year-old son of SJs Caviar froze the teletimer in a career-best clocking of 1:54.4 for trainer Doug Miller of Lake Worth, FL, who co-owns the square-gaiter with William Weaver, III of Freehold, NJ. Weaver also bred Too Salty.
Too Salty used a solid kick in the stretch to hold off runner-up Slave Dream. Rounding out the top three was O Georgie.
"He is a strong horse" said Bruce Ranger. "He has always been close at the finish in the series but tonight he had good cover and came off it very strong."
