A perfect, pocket trip played a major factor in helping Cusdmagicdragon find her way to victory lane in Friday’s $12,000 Fillies And Mares Open at Fraser Downs.
Cusdmagicdragon and driver Dave Hudon accepted a two-hole trip behind front-stepping Tahiti Seelster. That mare chopped out fractions of :28.1, :58.3 and 1:26.4, but she couldn’t seal the deal. Hudon rallied Cusdmagicdragon home in :27, and that was good enough to win by a nose over Tahiti Seelster in 1:54.1. Blue Grotto rounded out the Trifecta ticket.
Trainer Kelly Hoerdt co-owns the four-year-old daughter of Custard The Dragon-Rockumentary with Blair & Erna Corbeil of Beaumont, AB. It was the seventh win of the season from 11 trips to the track for the 16-time winner who bumped her lifetime earnings just shy of $250,000 with the triumph.
