Thundering Ovation rebounded from an off-the-board finish in her last start over two weeks ago with a return to her wire-to-wire winning tactics on Saturday night in the featured $11,000 Preferred 2 Trot at Flamboro Downs.

Trained by Gerald Sloan and owned by Joanne and Courtney Sloan, the five-year-old homebred mare left from post five and carved out fractions of :29, :59.2 and 1:28.3 en route to a 1:58.3 triumph with J.R. Plante in tow. She has now won five or her last six starts.

The victory was her 18th lifetime and put her career bankroll over the $200,000 mark for the Sloans.

Sent postward as the 2-1 second choice in the nine-horse field to the season-debuting stakes competitor Angies Lucky Star (Trevor Henry), Thundering Ovation paid $6.30 to win. The favourite finished eighth off a second over trip.

Pocket-sitter Cimeronken (Travis Henry) came in one and three-quarter lengths behind the winner in second while first over Heres The Magic (Alfie Carroll) finished over five lengths back in third.
