Fresh off a pair of victories at the Meadowlands Racetrack, including a career-best equalling 1:49.2 Free For All score, Abelard Hanover took his show on the road and made it three wins in a row with another sub-1:50 score in Friday afternoon's featured $30,000 Winners Handicap Over Pace at Harrah's Philadelphia.
Driven by Ron Pierce, Abelard Hanover worked his way to the front from post seven during a :26.2 opening panel and led the way through middle splits of :55 and 1:22.1 en route to the 1:49.3 triumph. The 7-2 second choice held on by half a length for his 19th career win as 1-5 favourite Dial Or Nodial, with David Miller aboard, kicked home in :26.2 up the pylons after a locked in three-hole trip to place. Pocket-sitter Fancyfreeshark finished two lengths behind in third for Jonathan Roberts.
Marvin Callahan trains the five-year-old Rocknroll Hanover gelding for Maryland owners Alvin Callahan, Suzanne Waskey and Pamela Price. Abelard Hanover has now won half of his 10 starts this year while banking $84,725 in purses. Lifetime, the bay pacer has earned $294,597.
Abelard Hanover paid $9.80 to win.
Tim Tetrick won six of the afternoon's 14 races teaming with trainers Scott DiDomenico and PJ Fraley, who won three each.
