Bright Green donned the green number four in the featured fourth race, an $18,000 fillies and mares conditioned trot, at Woodbine Mohawk Park on Thursday, April 24 and she wore those colours proudly as she stepped to victory in career-best fashion.
Louis-Philippe Roy sent the Eric Nadeau student from the car to the top, sitting idly behind Hope N Glory (Jody Jamieson) through the :29.1 first panel before following the cover of Film At Eleven (James MacDonald) en route to the :58.4 half-mile marker. Bright Green cleared just after the half and kept on roling through the 1:27.1 three-quarters and all the way to victory by 1-3/4 lengths in 1:55.1. Film At Eleven finished second with Hope N Glory third.
Owned by Ecurie Csl and Louis-Philippe Roy Racing, the sophomore daughter of Green Manalishi S and the Father Patrick mare Shine Bright notched her first win of the season and her third career victory, moving her tally to 3-4-2 in 14 starts. Bright Green boasts her new mark of 1:55.1 along with a bankroll of $68,829. As the bettors' choice, she returned $5.80 to win.
