Longtime Delaware driving champ Eddie Davis, now 79, won the first race on the Harrington Raceway program Tuesday (April 25) with Kathy Davis' Missstarofnova.
Davis, a winner of 8,635 races lifetime, only drives on a limited basis currently and notched the win with a mare trained by his son Martin. The homebred is a daughter of stallion Nova Artist and out of the dam Seamstresforthepan, both of whom the Davis family raced.
Missstarofnova left the gate from post seven and eventually settled in third before angling wide in the stretch and getting the lead in the shadow of the wire in a tight photo over Spoiled Rotn Girl. The 1:58.2 effort was her second career win and she paid a $27.80 mutuel.
In the $15,000 overnight feature, My Kiwi Lady N was a 1:53.3 winner over Cruzinforavictory and Divine Deo. Owned and trained by Chris Scicluna, My Kiwi Lady led all the way for a wire-to-wire upset win. It was one of three wins on the card for driver Tony Morgan. She paid $40.80 to win.
Live harness racing will continue on a Monday through Wednesday schedule. Post time is 4:30 p.m. (EDT).
