Crews are working diligently to complete an arrange of improvements to Clinton Raceway before fans pack the stands on opening day on Sunday, May 19, the unofficial kick-off to summer.

The track is being widened along the homestretch and finish line to enhance the safety of the horse, driver and fans at Clinton Raceway.

A winner's circle is also being added on the grandstand side, rather than the infield, making for easier access from the track.

Green space is going to be placed alongside the track, and parking will be pushed back, allowing patrons a better view of racing down the stretch.

With the demolition of the old Clinton Arena last fall, there will be more parking available this season, as well as some additional green space with tables and umbrellas.

First-race post time for Opening Day is set for 1:30 p.m. and will continue all summer long.

This year, Clinton Raceway returns to its Canada Day race card on Monday, July 1.
