James Behrendt’s Harlingen Hanover rallied smartly in the final sixteenth of a mile and edged out Jeremys Successor to win Monday’s $18,600 Open at Harrington Raceway

Harlingen Hanover, a five-year-old Badlands Hanover gelding, picked up his second win of the season for trainer/driver Roger Plante, Jr. The victory pushed his 2011 earnings over $73,000. Lilsharkshooter finished third.
Meanwhile, driver Art Stafford, Jr. earned his 1,000th career victory aboard Smoke Em Up in the ninth race. The four-year-old Shotgun Scott gelding was positioned second over and surged by the leaders in mid stretch for a 1:55 triumph.
Driver Jim Morand won four races on the card including the $17,200 Delaware Special aboard Dinas Gamble ($6.20). Owned by Legacy Racing of Delaware and Louie Paglierani, the seven-year-old Tune Town gelding was a front-end winner in 1:53.2.
