It wasn’t a good night for the post time favourites in Sunday’s Preferred events at Rideau Carleton Raceway, but it proved to be music to the ears of the connections of Perfect Vacation and Imjustalittleguy.

In the $14,000 Preferred Trot, Perfect Vacation snapped a three-race losing streak for trainer Richard Moreau and owner Sean Hibbert of Corbyville, ON. John MacDonald guided the seven-year-old son of Dream Vacation to the 1:57.3 score over Make You Mine and Silverado Dream. Odds-on favourite Guilford made a break past the mid-way point and finished last in the eight-horse affair.

Sent off as the 3-1 second choice in the wagering, Perfect Vacation notched his third win of the season in 10 trips postward. The 18-time winner has banked more than $232,000 in his career.

Imjustalittleguy was a well-prepped winner in the $14,000 Preferred Pace. The eight-year-old son of Armbro Operative, who was making his first start since December 27, 2009, used a :28.3 final frame to win in his first start off the bench for trainer Ted McDonald. The gelding stopped the clock in 1:53.4 en route to defeating Best Show In Town and En Katimini. Match Bayama, who was sent off as the even-money choice, finished a disappointing sixth.

Lloyd Stone of Portland and Dr. John Tobin of Elgin, ON share ownership on the 35-time winner, who upped his lifetime earnings to $284,855 with the win.

Rideau Carleton Raceway’s leading driver in 2010, John MacDonald, added five more victories to his already impressive totals. He entered the night with 83 wins at the oval – 23 more than the second-ranked Guy Gagnon.

In addition to taking the Preferred Trot with Perfect Vacation he also scored with Chip Dot Com (1:58.2), Blue Water (1:57.2), Search Mission (1:57.2) and Pollards Brook (1:56.2).
