After disappointing in a road trip to Woodbine Racetrack on April 8, Lyonssomewhere traveled to The Raceway at Western Fair District and laid a Monday evening whooping on the pacing foes he faced in the $11,000 Preferred 2 for horses and geldings.

Lyonssomewhere roared to the top for driver J Harris, and together they sliced out fractions of :28.1, :57.1 and 1:25.1 before using a :28.4 kicker to win by three lengths over Arrived Late in 1:54. Boomboom Ballykeel was third.

The six-year-old son of Somebeachsomewhere-Miss Kitty Hanover has won three of his last four assignments for owner Geoffrey Lyons Mound of Brantford, Ont. The 13-time winner is quickly closing in on $600,000 in career earnings.

A suddenly-streaking Beach Terror extended his winning streak to three-in-a-row thanks to his 1:55.1 triumph in the $7,500 Preferred 3 for horse and gelding pacers.

Nick Steward got away fourth with the seven-year-old son of Western Terror-Beachy Girl, but he had him first over while sitting third on the outside at the mid-way point. He eventually cleared to the lead and had the field chasing him past the three-quarter pole in 1:26.3. A :28.3 closing quarter propelled him to the win by two lengths over B N Bad. Third prize went to Jackstan.

Trainer Gord McDonnell shares ownership on the 16-time winner with Vince Orlando of Leamington, Ont. The career winner of $114,600 now owns a 3-4-2 record from 15 trips to the track this season.
