Scioto Holds Its First Qualifying Session

Save My Shark, a sophomore daughter of Four Starzzz Shark, marched right to the front at the start of her qualifier and won easily in 1:56.1 on Friday morning at Scioto Downs

. It was the fastest mile in the first qualifying session of the season at Scioto .

Jim Arledge, Jr. trains Save My Shark and Bob Harper was in the sulky as she coasted across the wire 3-1/2 lengths ahead of her pursuers.

The fastest trotting mile of the morning also went to a mare as Britt Van, a four-year-old trained by Dan Ater and driven by son Kyle, stepped an evenly-rated mile in 2:00.2 . The daughter of Pegasus Spur won by three lengths.

Other impressive sophomore pacing winners were Cruzin Bayou (Yankee Cruiser) in 1:56.3 for trainer-driver Chip Noble; Diego (Cambest) in 1:57.4 for driver Chris Page; Jans Best (Cambest) in 1:58 for Dean Glispie; Southwind Mocha (Artsplace) in 1:59.3 for Kyle Ater; and Track Stand (Stand Forever) for Kyle Ater in 1:59.4.

The three-year-old trotting winners were Nessa Rose (Chip Chip Hooray) in 2:01.4 for Dan Ater; Chuzzle (Emile Angus) in 2:02 for trainer-driver Harold Dick; and Rose Run Kurt (Armbro Laser) in 2:03.3 for Tyler Smith.

Qualifiers will be held again next Friday, May 1.
