Things didn’t go very well for Win One Soon in last week’s assignment in Flamboro’s feature race for pacers, but Sunday night’s test versus easier company was a different story.
Trainer/driver Paul MacKenzie hustled Win One Soon to the lead in the $7,500 Preferred 3 for horse and gelding pacers, and the gelding never looked back once he claimed the top spot.
The gelding fired his way through fractions of :27.3, :57.2 and 1:25.3 before using a :29-second kicker to seal the deal by 1-1/4 lengths over race favourite Bali in 1:54.3. Taking home the show dough in the seven-horse affair was Monte Cristo.
Ronald Ash of Desboro, Ont. owns the five-year-old son of Jeremes Jet-Allamerican Tiger. It was the pacer’s third win of the season and the 11th of his career. He’s managed to stash away close to $20,000 this year while his lifetime bankroll stands at $131,791.
