Winbak Hosts State Officials

On Monday, April 21, Winbak Farm played host to a group of Maryland officials that were making the rounds of various equine breeding farms in the state.

As a report by the Cecil Daily Whig explains, the officials were visiting the farms as part of an information gathering tour, as the state’s Horse Industry Board is currently trying to create a statewide system linking key players that already host horse events.

Joe and JoAnn Thomson, who have owned Winbak Farm since 1991, hosted the guests Monday, along with the farm’s general manager, Garrett Bell.

“I’m really enjoying seeing these operations today,” State Treasurer Nancy Kopp was quoted as saying at Winbak on Monday. “It reinforces for me the importance of the horse industry to Maryland’s economy.”
