Adelias Prince and driver Jim McNeight won the $11,000 Open Pace in a lifetime-best 1:55.1 at Buffalo Raceway Saturday night (April 20).
The win was the third in eight attempts this year for Adelias Prince, a seven-year-old Allamerican Native gelding trained by Brenda Ohol and owned by Russell Trumbo Russell of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania.
Adelias Prince ($12.80), having been assigned the rail by the race secretary, settled in second as last week’s Open winner Goodnite Goodluck (Kevin Cummings) cut all the fractions in the race of :28.4, :58, and 1:26.4. As the field hit the top of the stretch, McNeight swung Adelias Prince to the inside passing lane, and with a :28.1 last quarter-mile, won by just a neck over Goodnite Goodluck. King Otra (Shawn McDonough) came in third.
The $5,500 winner's share of the purse put Adelias Prince’s seasonal earnings at $14,162 and lifetime bankroll at $77,133.
Ray Fisher Jr. led all drivers with five wins on the card.
Racing will resume on Wednesday, April 24, with first post scheduled for 5 p.m. eastern time. The Pick 7 will have $23,255.50 carryover for Wednesday as no one has hit the wager since the beginning of the meet. It starts in race six.
