According to a report, a pair of thoroughbred organizations in the state of New York yesterday called for New York City Off-Track Betting Chairman Meyer 'Sandy' Frucher
to resign.
The pair of groups, the New York Thoroughbred Horsemen’s Association and New York Thoroughbred Breeders Inc., has also called for an attorney general's investigation. The groups have been cited as saying that the threatened shutdown of NYCOTB was a way for the organization to get money from the state.
“The price of saving the New York City OTB operation cannot be the death of the very industry that gives it its reason to be here,” NYTB Inc. Executive Director Jeff Cannizzo was quoted as saying.
