Season’s Mark Set At The Meadows

Trotslikethewind grabbed the lead with a quarter-pole move, then trotted like the wind, capturing Monday’s $22,500 Filly & Mare Preferred Trot at The Meadows

in a career-best 1:53.4 - the fastest mile this year by an older mare on a five-eighths-mile track.

Trotslikethewind got away third for Tony Hall, but once she powered to the front, she was able to thwart the uncovered bid of Kandor Hanover, downing that rival by three-quarters of a length. PJs Photo rallied for show.

Andy Rickert owns and trains the seven-year-old daughter of Pegasus Spur-Familiar Goal, who notched her second straight victory and extended her lifetime bankroll to $199,040.

In the race, Action Broadway, North America’s 2011 Mare Trotter of the Year, got her 2012 campaign off to a rocky start when she broke stride before the start and never recovered.

Hall drove three winners on the 15-race card while Bill Zendt enjoyed a training triple — and piloted one of those winners himself.
