It has been reported that officials with Vernon Downs have reached a new deal with the horsepeople that

race at the track.

According to an article late last week by The Oneida Daily Dispatch, the two sides signed off on a contract just days before Vernon's race meet kicked off at the oval on Friday, April 15.

The report states that the two sides reached a two-year agreement.

The article cites the track's vice president of Racing, Jason Settlemoir, as saying that there were things in the contract that the parties had struggled to agree on. The report also states that the New York State Racing and Wagering Board will now need to approve race dates for the rest of the season.

The Vernon Downs race office would like to remind all horsepeople that it will be holding a double draw on Tuesday, April 19 for the cards on Friday and Saturday night. The entry box will close at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday morning. Entries should be called into the race office at 315-829-6825.
