Chris White's Fashion Showdown was an upset winner in the $17,500 Mares Open Tuesday, April 17 at Harrington Raceway.
Last week's winner, Empress Deo, who went off at 2-to-1 odds, set the fractions from post seven of :28, :56.4 and 1:25.4, but was caught late as Fashion Showdown, sitting the pocket for the mile, dove into the passing lane for her third win of the season.
Trained by her owner, she collected her 23rd win in her career. Tony Morgan sat behind the $19.00 winner.
In the sixth race, driver Ross Wolfenden brought home the biggest price so far in the meet when Windup West, paying $113.00, uncorked a huge rally to prevail in her local debut for trainer Kay Gannon.
