Undeterred by Post 9, Chiptomylou vaulted to the front, shrugged off her only serious challenge and scored easily in Wednesday’s Trotslikethewind Series at The Meadows.
Top Tart captured the other $12,500 second leg division of the series for three-year-old fillies.
With Chiptomylou on an easy lead, Monroe County made a serious uncovered bid from third. But the daughter of Chip Chip Hooray-Pinup Springs dug in for Dan Rawlings and downed Monroe County by a length in a career-best 1:57.4. Rick Beinhauer trains Chiptomylou and owns with Regina Beinhauer.
Top Tart unleashed a three-wide move down the backside for Dave Palone that looked as if it might fall short. But when the leader, Promisemethis, broke stride, Top Tart persevered and triumphed in 1:58.1, lowering her lifetime mark a second. Pine Judie earned place, half a length back, with Prettysydney Ridge third. Ron Burke trains Top Tart, a daughter of Andover Hall-Shesa Priority, for Wayne Zollars. It was one of three wins on the 12-race card for Palone.
