Golden Receiver led every step of the way in winning the $28,000 Open Handicap Pace on Saturday night
at Pocono Downs.
Leaving from the post five in a field of eight at odds of 6-1, Golden Receiver was sent right to the front by driver Joe Pavia, Jr. None of his competition was able to pass him from there, and when he crossed the line he was three lengths the best in 1:50.3. Western Bay was second best and Mucho Sleazy rounded out the top three.
Golden Receiver a five-year-old gelding from the barn of trainer Mark Harder, matched the fastest mile of the season at Pocono Downs in the process. It was the third win of the season for the son of Village Jove, who has banked in excess of $219,000 for the partnership of Stable 45, Richard Taylor, Stephen Springer and Nina Simmonds.
