Isle of Capri Casinos, owner of Pompano Park, was yesterday given the go-ahead from commissioners in Florida's Broward County to substantially expand its gaming area and add a hotel
.
An article in the Miami Herald states that the plans the commission authorized are part of a broader, preliminary development proposal for the racetrack that have been shown to Pompano Beach. No formal application to develop has been filed, however.
"It will depend on the economy," Isle of Capri Casinos' lawyer Richard Coker was quoted as saying in the article, referring to when an expansion may take place.
According to the report, no actual expansion project exists at this time.
