Top Western Canadian trainer Kelly Hoerdt has told Trot Insider that he will be shipping 10 of his top horses and will be setting up a satellite stable -- and the locale of that stable is not the first place most would expect

.

Hoerdt told Trot Insider that he and fellow trainer Tim Brown have made the decision to ship stock to Indiana to race at Hoosier Park and Indiana Downs. Brown will be taking two horses with him.

"I had been considering a move of some sort for some time -- basically since the uncertainty began in Alberta," explained Hoerdt, who will be stabled at Hoosier. "I was looking at Fraser Downs in BC as a plan B and the Indiana as plan C."

Hoerdt told Trot Insider that with Fraser going down to two days a week and purses being reduced, the idea of a satellite stable in Indiana became more attractive. "I've invested a lot in some good horses and it's going to be great to give them a shot in Indiana for some nice purses."

Hoerdt toldTrot Insider that some of the horses which he will be taking include Trust The Artist, Roundtable Review, Killean Cut Kid, Strong Signal, Major Ziggy and Arts Luck.

Hoerdt said that he and Brown will be shuttling back in forth between Canada and Indiana. Hoerdt currently has 50 head in training.
