Prairie Sweetheart, the Florida-sired super mare, entered her four-year-old and Meadowlands debut with a perfect 14-for-14 career record. But then she ran into a fellow four-year-old who was sitting on a monster race.

Windsun Glory got a perfect second-over trip and sprinted a jaw-dropping :25.4 final quarter to defeat Inittowinafortune and the pacesetting Prairie Sweetheart in the $18,000 Meadowlands feature on Friday (April 14). The final time was 1:51.2.

John Campbell moved Prairie Sweetheart to the front after a :27.1 first quarter. The Ross Croghan-trained daughter of Royal Millenium continued to lead through a half-mile in :56.1 and three-quarters in 1:24.4. At that point, David Miller secured a second-over trip aboard Windsun Glory behind longshot Nerida Franco N. He then tipped three-wide at the head of the stretch and set sail with the breathtaking final quarter.

She is nominated to all three of the major mare stakes at the Meadowlands: Golden Girls, Lady Liberty, and TVG Mares Series.

One week after his 62nd birthday, Campbell won three races including a pair for Croghan.

Post-time favourites won only two of 10 races with the average $2 Win payoff $18.

Total handle was $1,909,597.

Racing continues Saturday with an 11-race card. Post time is 7:15 p.m.
