Mark Davies, co-founder of Betfair, the highly successful online betting exchange, has confirmed his participation in the Standardbred Wagering Conference

, which will be taking place at Caesars Windsor from Tuesday, April 28 – 29, 2009.

Davies is Betfair's managing director (Corporate Affairs) and has a background in bond trading and media. He joined Betfair in 2000 and is now known as the public face of the company.

Davies will join both Michael Lipton (member, Dickinson Wright) and Dean Towers (secretary, Horseplayers Association of North America [HANA]) as part of the 'Life After Pari Mutuel Wagering?' panel, which will be moderated by Jeremy Pierce, general manager of Harness Racing PEI.

Is there room for other wagering platforms aside from pari-mutuel wagering? Could there be a Canadian Betting Exchange and what would it take to develop one?
