Kelly Hoerdt steered his student In High Cotton to her second straight victory in the featured $10,000 Fillies and Mares Preferred at Fraser Downs on Thursday evening, April 11.

In High Cotton left from post eight, getting away fourth as Hotpieceoface (Allan Molloy) battled Hang On Sloopy (Tyson Jacoby) to the quarter in :26.3. Hang On Sloopy cleared the top under urging, Hotpieceoface accepted the pocket and Western Summit (Scott Knight) gapped in third with favoured In High Cotton right at her heels through the half in :55. After that panel, In High Cotton pulled first over and accelerated to the top, clearing just before the three-quarters in 1:25. The mare did not let up on the gas pedal and went on to win by three lengths in 1:54. Gin Is Better (Clinton Warrington) nabbed second and Grey Sea (John Abbott) took third.

Hoerdt co-owns the six-year-old daughter of Somebeachsomewhere out of the Western Hanover mare Olivette Hanover with Blair & Erna Corbeil. In High Cotton won her third race of the year in 10 starts and 22nd career victory in 93 starts. She moved her career sum to $218,317. She returned $4 to win.
