Perlucky scored a gate-to-wire 1:54.1 triumph in Monday’s $30,000 Open Handicap Trot at Miami Valley, holding off Ron Burke stablemate Celebrate With Me and late-closing show finisher Delilah Seelster.
It was the third 2022 win for Perlucky, the first in Ohio, as Burke continues to move his considerable stable of stalwarts from track to track throughout the Midwest and East Coast.
Tony Hall sent Perlucky forward from the get-go and put him on the point before the first quarter pole was reached. The seven-year-old son of Lucky Chucky, lightly raced the past two years, never experienced an anxious moment as a serious challenge never developed despite the fact he paid $15.80 to win.
Weaver Bruscemi and Phil Collura share ownership of the winner with Burke Racing Stable.
The victory for Tony Hall was one of four on the program. His other scores came behind Jackie Davis ($19.80), Photobombr Hanover ($9.80) and Shady Deal ($18.20). In the process, the 43-year-old reinsman became the sixth driver in the current Miami Valley drivers’ colony to surpass $100,000 in purse earnings already this year.
Racing will resume at Miami Valley on Tuesday afternoon with a 4:05 p.m. post time.
