Trainer/driver Bill Davis enjoyed a productive afternoon when his pupils posted a pair of victories in the Miss Cloverdale Classic eliminations
for B.C. owned, bred, or sired fillies and mares, which highlighted Fraser Downs’ Saturday program.
Im Bossy laid down the law in the first of two $7,500 Miss Cloverdale elims winning in wire-to-wire fashion.
The five-year-old Power Of Art – One Of A Kind mare, who was sent postward as the 1-2 choice, carved out panels of :27.3, :56.2, and 1:25.4 before holding off Greek Beach (Scott Knight) by a neck for the win in 1:55 over a sloppy track. Real Beauty (David McKellar) rounded out the top three.
Im Bossy recorded her fifth win in seven starts this year pushing her seasonal bankroll to over $40,000. The winner of 17 races and nearly $94,000 is owned by the J J J Stables of Aldergrove, B.C. and Alan Anderson of Willows, California.
Davis was back in the spotlight when Full Circle Faith rallied from off the pace to take the second elim in a swift 1:53.4 clocking, which lowered her lifetime mark.
B Bar Marilyn (Tim Brown) and Lil Kim (James Burke) traded turns on the front end through opening panels of :28.1 and :58.4 before Full Circle Faith, a four-year-old mare by Albert Albert out of Classy Sis, moved first-up from fourth at the half and claimed the lead by three-quarters in 1:26. The 3-5 popular choice, powered home in :27.4 to win by five and three-quarter lengths.
Furious Five (Serge Masse) was second best while long shot Judges Acenthehole (Jim Marino) finished third.
The J J J Stables also owns Full Circle Faith, who kept her record spotless in her fourth outing of the year. In 11 career starts, Full Circle Faith has recorded seven wins banking nearly $30,000 in purses.
Davis opened the card with back-to-back wins in the first three races aboard his pupils Im Bossy, Interstate Five (1:56) and Full Circle Faith. He also scored with Shesabombshell (1:56.3) in the ninth dash. The resident of Langley, B.C. has recorded 48 training wins so far this year earning nearly $260,000. His URS of .422 places him amongst the top five trainers in the Canadian standings.
