
With the 2025 Canadian harness racing season at the first quarter mark, Trot Insider takes a look at the drivers and trainers leading the way.
Austin Sorrie currently leads all drivers in Canada for wins with 94 as of press time. His win count places him among the top 10 drivers in all of North America, ranking ninth overall. Travis Cullen (82) and Travis Henry (81) follow in a close race for place ahead of James MacDonald and Tyler Borth (each with 76).
James MacDonald, four-time reigning Driver of the Year, is the first driver to surpass the $1 million mark in purse earnings this year, with a nation-leading $1,087,615. Travis Cullen ($922,847) and Tyler Borth ($861,441) round out the top three money-earning sulky-sitters.
Brandon Campbell tops the standings for UDRS, with an impressive 0.542. Phil Giesbrecht's 0.367 UDRS is second-best ahead of James MacDonald's 0.365.
Jodie Cullen, Canada's winningest trainer in 2024, continues to top the national leaderboard with 68 victories so far this year -- fourth-best North America wide -- and she also leads for earnings with her stable having amassed $775,930 in purses. Cullen holds a 19-win lead ahead of Francis Guillemette (49), with Gerard Demers (34) rounding out the top three trainers in the win category. Dave Menary has also topped the half-million mark with his starters earning $516,010 to place second in that category while Carmen Auciello has trained winners of $420,160 to sit third.
Dave Menary boasts a chart-topping 0.500 UTRS three months into the season followed by Francis Guillemette (0.451) and Jodie Cullen (0.406).
