Lincolnjames Takes Meadows Preferred

Lincolnjames made it four wins in his last five starts when he quarter-poled to the top and held off Dapper Dude late to capture Saturday’s $18,000 Winners Over $10,000 Life/Preferred Handicap Pace at The Meadows.

After a :27 opening panel, Dave Palone slammed on the brakes and gave Lincolnjames a relaxing :29 second quarter. That breather enabled the six-year-old Northwest-Winbak Lucy gelding to withstand the late charge of the pocket-sitting Dapper Dude and down him by a neck in 1:51.3 over a “good” surface. Knocking Around rallied for show.

Ron Burke trains Lincolnjames, who won his 16th race over the last two seasons and extended his career bankroll to $189,987, for Burke Racing Stable and Weaver Bruscemi LLC.

Palone piloted four winners on the 12-race card while Burke fashioned a triple.
