Insincerity powered home off cover to post a 17-1 upset in the $10,000 Fillies & Mares Preferred Handicap Pace on Wednesday night at The Raceway at the Western Fair District.

Inside starter Bestulldotanite (Scott Coulter) retook the lead during the :27.2 first quarter and rolled through middle splits of :57.2 and 1:26.1 before Insincerity and driver Bob McClure swept off the cover of Murphys Ideal (Alfie Carroll) and took over command around the final turn. The six-year-old daughter of Rambaran opened up two and a half lengths down the stretch before hitting the wire in 1:56 flat and sparking a $37.90 win payout. Bestulldotanite held for second, but had to share the runner-up honours in a dead-heat with 9-5 favourite Russian Kisses (Robert Shepherd), who circled up from the back of the pack.

Trained, owned and bred by Bill Hamm of West Lorne, Ont., Insincerity has won 27 races in her career and $180,995 in purses.

In the evening's $7,500 Preferred 3 Trot, the even-money favourite delivered with a front-end performance. After relinquishing the lead briefly in the first quarter, Cimeronken and Billy Davis Jr. moved back out front and cruised to victory in 1:57.2, with Excellence (Lorne House) finishing over three lengths behind and Order By Commander (Robert Shepherd) farther back in third. The six-year-old son of Ken Warkentin is trained by Daryl Roberts for owner/breeder Denise Anderson of Mossley, Ont.
