A Taste Of Horse Ownership

What do J J J Stables and Martin Meissenheimer have in common?

Both can say they owned 100% of winning pacer Tap Away that raced at Fraser Downs on Friday night.

J J J Stables is the official owner and Meissenheimer owned the horse in the very popular “Owner for a Day” contest sponsored by The Betting Company (TBC) and Harness Racing B.C. Nine patrons had earned a horse in the eighth race by qualifying the previous two weeks in handicapping contests at TBC Racebooks throughout B.C.

The evening started with each fan drawing a horse, going to the backstretch to meet “their” trainer and wish “their” horse good luck.

After enjoying a great buffet dinner, everyone gathered on the tarmac to cheer on “their” horse. The $5,300 purse was split the same way as all owners, and of course, so was sixth to ninth.

Meissenheimer has been a longtime fan of horse racing and spends a lot of time wagering in the Racebook at the River Rock Casino in Richmond, B.C.
