In the top race for a $40,000 purse, Gottaservesomebody continued his rags-to-riches climb up the ladder of success as Tony Morgan drove the Artiscape-HH Sapphire gelding to his biggest career win holding off a strong stretch-long challenge from Three Of Spades. Western Ace rallied up the passing lane to finish third.
The pacer stopped the clock in 1:50.4 to win the feature pace for owner/trainer Marvin Callahan, who claimed the pacer last summer for $20,000. Since then Gottaservesomebody has risen to the top ranks at the track. He has already earning $47,755 in 2010.
In the $37,000 Delaware Special Handicap, Southwind Lynx took the lead for Tim Tetrick after the opening quarter and then maintained the lead throughout en route to posting a 1:51.4 victory. Owned by K&R Racing and Teague Inc, the son of Real Artist-Luxury Class was chased home by Light Up The Sky and Kellys Spur. George Teague trains the pacer who produced his second win of the season in three starts.
Corey Callahan drove Dontloseyourdayjob to his third consecutive trip to the winner's circle with a 1:51.3 triumph in the $30,000 Open pace. Trainer Brian Callahan claimed the six-year-old Life Sign-ICI Aussie five-year-old for $30,000 in mid February and the pacer has recorded two straight for his new owner.
Wambam Sam, in his second start and first win for Glenn DelRusso and trainer/driver Daryl Bier, set a new personal record notching a 1:50.3 victory in the $28,000 4-Year-Old Open. Recently purchased from George Teague, Wambam Sam collared Winordietrying in mid stretch. Yankee Fortysix, who was last week's winner in the class, finished third.
