A head harness racing judge that was removed from his position last month has gone on the record as saying that his termination was a “farce.”
It was announced just a few weeks ago that David Farquharson – the chairman of stewards for Queensland Harness Racing that had been suspended for two months – had been fired. Farquharson’s termination came after an external investigation. The investigation had been launched after a complaint had been placed with the Queensland Racing Integrity Commission from a racing participant.
Details in regard to the nature of the complaint and incident have not been made public, but Farquharson has stated that he did nothing wrong.
“This is just a farce. I would do the same thing again tomorrow,” Farquharson was quoted as saying in a piece by The Courier Mail.
“I’ve been a steward in different parts of this country for 30 years and I have no regrets in getting rid of drug cheats and prosecuting the people doing the wrong thing.
“A charge of misconduct from a person (integrity commissioner Ross Barnett) that’s only known me since July has ruined my career. I vehemently deny any allegations of serious misconduct and will be considering my legal options.”
