Driver Austin Sorrie sent Silver Beast to the top and maintained control to the finish to win the $10,000 Horses & Geldings Preferred 3 Pace on Sunday (March 7) at Flamboro Downs.
Leaving from post 4, Silver Beast slid to the top and took the field by the quarter in :27.2. Cyclone Joe, racing fourth, angled first over as the tempo slowed to a :57.1 half and ranged towards the pacesetter nearing three-quarters in 1:26. Silver Beast kept Cyclone Joe at his wheel rounding the final turn and cruised through the stretch one length better in a 1:55.4 mile. Beachin Lindy closed to finish third while pocket-sitter Walter Mitty faded to fourth.
A five-year-old gelding by Betterthancheddar, Silver Beast won his 11th race from 50 starts, earning $95,310. Mitchell Tierney trains the $4.60 winner for owner Jemaxpo Racing Stable LLC.
