A compact field of six lined up in Monday’s $11,000 Preferred 2 Handicap for pacers at The Raceway at Western Fair District, and Reasonable Force game away victorious in front-stepping fashion.
Reasonable Force left hard from Post 4 and after parking beyond the quarter pole in :28 he worked to the top and proceeded to slice out splits of :58.2 and 1:27. The five-year-old gelded son of Shadow Play-J K Hello Dolly stormed home in :29.1 to win by 1-1/4 lengths over Newbie in 1:56.1. Taking home the show dough in the featured tilt was Warrior Call.
Owned, trained and driven to victory by Steven Hudon or Erin, Ont., Reasonable Force improved his 2016 record to 2-2-1 from six starts with the win. The nine-time winner bumped his career earnings to $153,615 in the process.
The undercard saw Blazing Shot post a 2:00 victory in the $7,500 Preferred 3 for trotters. Paul MacKenzie hustled the 10-1 shot to the lead from Post 3, and together they never looked back. Panels of :29.1, 1:00.2 and 1:30.1 were thrown down before the mare finished off her foes with a :29.4 kicker. She won by a length over Devries Hanover, with Wattafine Rhthem taking home the show dough.
Tom Gallant of Caledon East, Ont. owns and Kyle Reibeling trains the seven-year-old daughter of Via Blaze-Casters Goal who improved her 2016 record to 2-2-1 from seven starts with the win. The 14-time winner is closing in on $130,000 in lifetime earnings.
