Frenchfrysnvinegar turned a two-hole trip into a 17-1 upset score in Monday’s $35,000 Preferred Trot at Woodbine Racetrack for the productive tandem of driver Jody Jamieson and trainer Jeff Gillis

.

Gillis, who had a two-win night, and Jamieson, who grabbed four trips to victory lane over the course of the evening, watched the six-year-old daughter of Angus Hall-Gugus front step her way to a 1:54.4 triumph at Woodbine one week earlier against easier company. Despite the class hike on Monday, she passed the test with flying colours.

Jamieson dropped into the two-hole with Frenchfrysnvinegar, who was allowed to stalk race favourite Rose Run Hooligan through fractions of :27.2, :56.2 and 1:26 before finding room to race at the pylons in deep stretch. She used a :27.4 final frame to post the neck decision over Rose Run Hooligan, with Aisling, who came first over around the final turn, holding on to finish third.

David Smith of Rockwood, ON holds the ownership papers on the 16-time winner, who has shown noticeable improvement since being added to the Lasix program in mid-February. The career winner of $301,210 has assembled a 2-2-0 record from five trips postward this season.
