His charge hauled down one of Australasia’s biggest stakes races earlier this year, and now trainer John Meade has said that he will most likely be bringing his pupil to North America for some stakes action.

According to an article by The Standard, Sparkling Success, the winner of the $300,000 Grade 1 Great Southern Star at Tabcorp Park Melton in January, will most likely be making the long trek to North America this fall.

“We’ve been invited to represent Australia with Sparkling Success in a $1.3 million international trotting Grand Prix race (International Trot) at Yonkers in New York on October 13 this year,” Meade was quoted as saying.

“I would say at this stage we’ll be making the trip, but there’s a bit of water to go under the bridge yet – we’ve got to make sure Sparkling Success is in good form before heading overseas.”

Sparkling Success, who is a six-year-old Great Success gelding, won the 2,760-metre Great Southern Star (which featured a mobile start) in a track record 1:58.7.

“I don’t get worked up with many things,” Meade said, “but to think we may go to New York with Sparkling Success is a big thing in any person’s language.”
