Ridgeline Bounces Back

In Friday’s featured $13,000 Open Pace at Fraser Downs, Ridgeline avenged his defeat in last week’s top pace with a sizzling 1:51.4 winning effort in line to trainer-driver Ed Hensley

.

James Burke sent C A Marauder to the top from Post 6 during :27.1 opening quarter and held a parked out Lil Dude Starrbuck (Scott Knight) at bay en route to the half in :55.3.

With Lil Dude Starrbuck taking back and filling the pocket, the coast was clear for his entrymate, Lilsharkshooter (Jim Marino), to test the waters first over, providing a fourth-place Ridgeline with cover to three-quarters in 1:22.4.

C A Marauder continued to lead into the stretch, but could not hold off a hard-closing Ridgeline, who angled wide around the turn and sprinted home in :28.2 for the victory in 1:51.4. The time of the mile tied Duca and Areyouinorout’s track record for aged geldings.

Camblazer (David Hudon) came flying home from the back of the pack to place over C A Marauder.

Ridgeline returned $2.80 to win as the 3-5 favourite.

The six-year-old gelded son of Ironridge-Humming Strings has won three of his last four starts at the Open level and half of his eight starts this season for the J J J Stables or Aldergrove, BC and Casandra Uppal of Blaine, WA. Ridgeline now boasts $34,710 in earnings this year and $289,689 lifetime.
