Driver Brett MacDonald procured a pocket ride to paydirt in the $10,000 featured trot at Flamboro Downs on Sunday night (March 5).
Esquire slid to the top to a :28.3 first quarter but bore first-over pressure from Thirdtimesthedream through a :59.1 half and 1:28.1 three-quarters. Esquire clung to the lead off the turn but failed to withstand the open-stretch charge of Sicario, who pushed a head forward at the beam to claim a 1:58.1 win. Thirdtimesthedream settled for third and Buckys Angel took fourth.
Richard Moreau trains Sicario, an eight-year-old Holiday Road gelding, for owners Pamela and John Hehn. The gelding won his 35th race from 167 starts, has now earned $332,028 and paid $6.10 to win.
