After going winless in his first two starts of the season, veteran pacer Outlaw Gunpowder front-stepped to a solid triumph and celebrated a money milestone in the process for Team Cullen.
Squaring off with eight other foes in a claiming handicap event Thursday evening at Mohawk Park, Outlaw Gunpowder went to the front and didn’t look back for driver/owner Travis Cullen of Dundas, Ont.
Cullen pushed for the lead with the 10-year-old son of Smart Shark-Fox Valley Cherish, and together they sliced out fractions of :28, :57.3 and 1:27.2 before using a :29.2 closing quarter to win by a neck over Always N The Money in 1:56.4.
The victory was the 57th lifetime score for the charismatic claimer who surpassed $400,000 in career earnings in the process.
