It has been awhile since Marloe Hanover reached the winner’s circle following a Mares Open at Miami Valley, but only because her stablemate Alexa Skye has been dominant in recent weeks in the feature event. On Thursday (March 30), she resumed her prolific winning ways with a gate-to-wire win in 1:51 for driver Trace Tetrick and trainer Virgil Morgan Jr.
The winner, a six-year-old daughter of Captaintreacherous, topped Single Girl, Wildcat Victoria and seven other foes for her 13th win in the last year and 26th of her career. Her bankroll has swelled to $916,494. She is owned by the Let It Ride Stable, Bottom Line Racing and J. L. Benson Stable—all of Florida.
Tetrick needed a quick first eighth of a mile to wrest the lead away from Single Girl before hitting the quarter in :26.4. From there, the pair remained one-two through middle fractions of :55.4 and 1:23, then sprinted home in a :28 final panel. Although Wildcat Victoria, Velocity Lady and Trick Of The Light all tried valiantly to erase the top two’s advantage, it was not to be.
Marloe Hanover paid $5.80 to win and the Marloe Hanover over Single Girl exacta kicked back $24.80.
Miami Valley will be dark on Friday and Saturday, then return to live action from Sunday, April 3 through Thursday, April 6 with a 4 p.m. (EDT) post each afternoon.
