Jodie Cullen nabbed a training hat trick at Flamboro Downs on Thursday night (March 30).
Cullen’s hat trick started in the third race on the 10-race card with a coast-to-coast toasting of the competition with odds-on favourite Millies Million, who won a $6,300 claiming event by 5-3/4 lengths in 1:58. She completed the hat trick with back-to-back wins on the middle of the card when P L Jackson (1:54 winning mile; $12.40 to win) pulled pocket to win and then So Strange (1:58.4; $2.50) ground first over to win.
With the training hat trick, Jodie Cullen has taken the lead as top trainer at Flamboro Downs through the short months of the 2023 season. Cullen sits atop the rankings with 17 victories – one win better than Canada’s perennial leading trainer Richard Moreau at 16 wins. Cullen also sits second in purses among Flamboro trainers behind Moreau.
