Eve Marie Seelster resumed her winning ways at The Raceway at the Western Fair District on Wednesday night (March 30), making her sixth local appearance another successful outing.

Eve Marie Seelster has now won all six of her London, Ont. starts this year for trainer Victor Puddy, with her latest victory in Wednesday's $10,000 Preferred 2 Handicap Pace. Alfie Carroll was in the sulky once again.

As her rivals settled in line after a four-across cavalry charge off the gate, the parked out Eve Marie Seelster pressed on and worked to clear insiders Doo Wee Rusty (J Harris) and Insincerity (Bob McClure) by the 28-second first quarter mark. She then proceeded to the half in :59.1 and three-quarters in 1:28.1 with the rest of the field beginning to bunch up, but the 6-5 favourite persisted and widened her leading margin down the stretch en route to the 1:57.2 triumph. Doo Wee Rusty followed two lengths behind in second and Insincerity, who was flushed first over during the second panel, finished third.

Owned by Keith Cassell of Smiths Falls, Ont., the Artiscape-Eicarls Western mare is now six-for-eight in her eight-year-old campaign and has added $25,935 to her six-figure bankroll. Eve Marie Seelster is a 36-time career winner with earnings totalling $281,570.

Puddy and Carroll teamed up for a Wednesday night double, syncing their career win totals (both now at 1,796). They also won with first-time starter Lilys Penelope, co-owned by Cassell, Carroll, Dr. John Tobin, and Limco Inc.

In the $7,500 Fillies & Mares Preferred 3 Pace, 3-2 favourite Zip Car and driver Garrett Rooney retook the lead from eventual runner-up Katherine B (Carroll) past the quarter-pole and went on to win by one and a half lengths in 1:57.1. Pictonian Sareta (Harris) advanced first over to show.

The Royal Mattjesty-Winbak Celebration mare now has three wins in 10 starts this year at the London oval for trainer Heather Toll and co-owner Mark Beaven.
