DSBF Prelims Continue; Six For Callahan

Favourite Alleigh Girl and first-time winner Cruisin Susan won the two $20,000 Delaware Standardbred Breeders Fund (DSBF) Three-Year-Old Filly trot first leg preliminaries and Corey Callahan dominated with a six-win performance on Thursday at Dover Downs

As expected, prohibitive favourite Alleigh Girl won the first DSBF prelim easily romping to a 1:59.3 victory with Ross Wolfenden driving the daughter of CR Commando-French Doll owned by Art Stafford and Art Stafford, Jr. It was the first start and win for the Les Givens trainee who now has accumulated eight wins in 11 races. She has now earned $136,440 in her career. Jodi Lin (Justin Vincent) finished second. Bosston Bell (George Dennis) came in third.

Cruisin Susan cruised down the lane to emerge from a crowd of trotters to win the second $20,000 prelim in 2:01.4. LaVita Loca Rusty (Brad Hanners) was second with JAs Charmer (Jon Wagner) was third. David Hoover trains the Linbo-Ragland Road filly for Meadow Creek Stables.

The second and final leg of the DSBF sophomore events are set to begin on Monday. The top eight-point getters in each of the four divisions return during the final week of the current meet ending April 12 for $100,000 finals.

Corey Callahan enjoyed wins with Cool Flying Fun (1:54.1), Crusin Susan (2:01.4), Mr Big Apple (1:55.1), Cavinetta (1:57.3), Race Me Comet (1:56.2) and the finale with CJ Crystal (1:56).

The productive performance helped Callahan lift this year’s win total to 148 while his lifetime list of tallies climbed to 2,415.
