Trainer Jeff Gillis will be looking for a big night from his pupils this Saturday night at Woodbine Racetrack, as he is set to send out a trio of starters in the $125,000 final of the Spring Pacing Championship
.
Lisagain, Ideal Race and Twin B Warrior will all line up behind the starting gate for the resident of Rockwood, Ont.
Lisagain, a recent addition to the Gillis stable from trainer Erv Miller, was victorious this past Saturday at Woodbine, as he stopped the clock in 1:51.4 in the $28,000 Preferred 2 class.
"To tell you the truth, he wasn't quite as good as I would have hoped him to be this past Saturday," Gillis said during a recent interview with the Woodbine Entertainment Group. "He had to work to get to the front, I don't know what his most favourable trip is and I don't really know a lot about him. I hope he can step it up even more on Saturday."
The son of Dragon Again is a half-brother to Lis Mara (1:47.3 - $2,270,674), who is currently standing stud in Ontario.
With career earnings of $426,481 and a lifetime best of 1:49.1, Lisagain will team up with Hall of Fame driver John Campbell and will start from Post 2.
Twin B Warrior is a graduate of the Ontario Sires Stake program who has banked $615,861 in lifetime purses. He captured the $100,000 final of the Willowdale Stakes in late January, but could be facing his toughest task to date. He will start from Post 6.
The son of Apaches Fame finished second behind Mr Saratoga -- who is also entered into the final of the Spring Pacing Championship -- in the $35,000 Preferred Pace this past Saturday at Woodbine.
Gillis' final entry is Ideal Race, a son of Western Terror. The winner of $421,433 in lifetime purses will be looking to step up his performance even more after his recent overnight victory at Woodbine in 1:51.1.
The final of the Spring Pacing Championship will also be a part of Woodbine's $100,000 guaranteed early Pick 4 on Saturday evening.
