Broodmares Artistic Vision, JCs Nathalie, Tsunami Hanover To U.S. Hall

Stan Bergstein, chairman of the Living Horse Hall of Fame Nominating Committee, and Harness Racing Museum Trustee Ellen Harvey today announced that broodmares Artistic Vision, JCs Nathalie and Tsunami Hanover will be inducted into the Harness Racing Hall of Fame

on Sunday, July 3.

The criteria met by these three fabulous matrons are that they must have produced a $1-million winner and two other $500,000 winners, or produced a Horse of the Year (U.S. and/or Canada) and another $500,000 winner. Broodmares meeting the 'broodmare category' rules are automatically elected members of the Harness Racing Living Horse Hall of Fame.

Sired by 1992 U.S. Horse of the Year Artsplace and bred by Armstrong Brothers in Inglewood, Ont., pacer Artistic Vision was foaled on March 27, 1998.

In 2002, Artistic Vision became the first mare to win the finals of the White Ruffles, Night Styles and Jersey Girls series in the same year. Her biggest victory was her 2003 sweep of the Overbid Series at the Meadowlands. Artistic Vision’s lifetime record was 92-34-13-7.

The progeny that qualified Artistic Vision for the Hall of Fame are 2010 Little Brown Jug, Breeders Crown and Messenger Stakes winner and Horse of the Year Rock N Roll Heaven p,3,1:47.3 ($2,748,818), and Clear Vision p,3,1:49.3f ($689,075), who finished on the board in the 2009 Messenger Stakes, Cane Pace and Tattersalls Pace. To date, with only two foals of racing age, Artistic Vision’s total foal earnings are $3,437,893.

Artistic Vision performs her broodmare duties at Hunterton Farm at Stoner Creek, Paris, Kentucky, and is owned by Charles 'Cotton' Nash, his wife Julie and his sister, Francene.

Bred by Gaetan Dessureault of St. Constant, Que., pacer JCs Nathalie was foaled on March 6, 1988. She earned more than $250,000 in her racing career, mostly from Quebec Sires Stakes competition.

The progeny that qualified JCs Nathalie for the Hall of Fame are Milton Stakes, Roses Are Red and Breeders Crown winner and 2010 Canadian Horse of the Year Dreamfair Eternal p,5,1:49 ($1,630,693), and 2002 Provincial Cup winner Dreamfair Vogel p,4,1:49.3s ($871,132). JCs Nathalie’s total foal earnings are $2,993,320

JCs Nathalie is owned by John and Mary Lamers of Dreamfair Stables in Ingersoll, Ont.

Sired by 1992 Horse of the Year Artsplace and bred by Hanover Shoe Farms, pacer Tsunami Hanover was foaled on April 23, 1994.

As a racehorse, Tsunami Hanover’s most successful money-winning year was her freshman season in 1996, when she won the Countess Adios and several New Jersey Sire Stakes events. Her lifetime record was 67-10-13-7.

The progeny that qualified Tsunami Hanover for the Hall of Fame are Classic Distaff, James Lynch and two-time Betsy Ross winner, World Champion Southwind Tempo p,6,1:48.2 ($2,396,362), Southwind Tabor p,6,1:52.1h ($651,152) and New York Sire Stakes star Hulas Z Tam p,2,1:52.3s ($634,010). All three were by world champion sire Bettors Delight p,3,1:49.4 ($2,581,461). To date, Tsunami Hanover’s total foal earnings stand at $3,903,142.

Tsunami Hanover performs her broodmare duties for owners Mr. and Mrs. Allen Skolnick at Southwind Farms in Pennington, New Jersey.
